ATLANTA, August 23, 2019 – In marking the company’s sixth anniversary and in celebration of making the Inc. 5000 list for the second year in a row, Banyan Hills Technologies donated $1,209 today in honor of this year’s ranking to the BH Tech Group, a non-profit dedicated to helping seniors bridge the digital divide.

In addition to the donation, Banyan employees and executives spent time at the Discovery Senior Living Village at Sugarloaf teaching seniors how to use their smartphones, tablets and other technology.

Banyan Hills Technologies was founded in 2013 by Steve Latham, an Internet of Things expert with more than 20 years of technology and industry experience. The company started on the simple premise of helping customers solve for the complexities of IoT, and within only a few years brought to market Canopy, its end-to-end IoT platform.

One of Banyan’s core values is based on social responsibility and making the world a better place. Giving back to the community through technology in partnership with BH Tech Group speaks to that commitment for Banyan and its family of employees.

“Social isolation and loneliness among older adults have emerged as serious public health issues, impacting physical well-being, mental health, and life expectancy,” said Steve Latham, chief executive officer and founder of Banyan Hills Technologies. “As an IoT tech company, we know first-hand just how powerful technology can be in connecting data to machines and data to people. So being able to help older adults utilize technology to stay connected to their loved ones, friends and community lends itself perfectly with our culture and values.”

“Thanks to the support of partners like Banyan Hills Technologies, our community’s older adults can take advantage of today’s digital world,” said Malcolm Wills, Board Chair and Interim Executive Director of BH Tech Group. “Teaching seniors how to safely use the internet opens up a wealth of possibilities for connection, independence and lifelong learning.”
