Since our inception in 2012, BH Technology Group has been teaching older adults how to use technology to connect with people and activities that bring them joy and help them lead happier, healthier lives.

Your ongoing support is vital to ensuring these educational services remain financially viable for older adults on fixed incomes and in underserved areas of Atlanta metro.  Every older adult deserves the opportunity to take advantage of the digital age. Thank you for making that possible.

A donation of $1,000 provides four educational group workshops to seniors in underserved neighborhoods

A donation of $250 gives ten seniors on a tight budget the opportunity to attend a workshop

Meet Mary

All older adults, like your mother or grandmother, deserve access to the digital world that many of us take for granted.

There’s a quiet emergency, not on anyone’s radar: the epidemic of social isolation. Many of Atlanta’s seniors are living alone, far away from family and experiencing the stress of loneliness and difficulty adapting to profound changes.

One solution is to introduce seniors to something you and I count on every day: technology. The Gerontological Society of America reports older adults who use the internet are 33% less likely to be depressed. Let’s teach our community’s seniors how to use technology to connect to a richer life.

Meet Mary. 79 years old, likes Cary Grant movies, reading the newspaper and telling the occasional dirty joke. Two years ago Mary’s son bought her an iPad. She carefully put it in a drawer in the kitchen. And there it stayed. She didn’t know how to use it or even why she would want to use it. It made her feel “left out” and “dumb”.

Fast forward two years. Mary attended a series of technology education workshops for older adults conducted by the nonprofit, BH Technology Group.

Now, Mary can FaceTime and text with her grandchildren so she can watch them grow and hear about their activities, use Alexa to turn on a light without having to wait for help, call Lyft to go to the movies with a friend, and use Google to find an online class in stand-up comedy. Mary is now “in the game” instead of watching from the sidelines.

Access to technology not only reduces the epidemic of social isolation, but also enables independence and fosters the self-esteem that arises from lifelong learning.

And yet our community’s seniors – especially those with lower incomes – are still left out of the digital world. Last year, BH Technology Group touched the lives of more than 700 seniors in Greater Atlanta and the need for our services has never been greater.  We need your help to reach more seniors – including those on limited budgets.

Please consider making a gift to enrich the lives of our seniors. You can make a difference in the life of an older adult like Mary. Thank you for your support!
